Debut WWE SmackDown vs. RAW 2008

An Extreme Rules match is a specialty match type in which disqualifications are not enforced.

Where using a weapon in WWE All Stars may risk a disqualification, using foreign objects against the opponent serve no consequence. Players have access to steel chairs from under the ring, a ringbell around ringside, and a trash can near the bottom right-hand corner of ringside that contain weapons such as a baseball bat, a crutch, and a 2x4 length of wood.

Using an object in WWE All Stars is a risky proposition that may disqualify players. In Extreme Rules matches, however, using objects is practically encouraged! Players have access to a trash can that contains goodies such as a baseball bat, a crutch and a 2X4. Chairs and bells can also be used to wreck havoc on an opponent. It’s a great throwback to the old Hardcore Championship matches of WWE’s past.

Among the achievements and trophies for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 users, competing in Extreme Rules matches have two different achievements that can be obtained.

The common achievement is by winning an Extreme Rules match for the first time, earning the Totally Extreme! achievement that contributes 15 points for an Xbox 360 user's Gamerscore and a Bronze Trophy for PS3 users.

The second is called He's Got a Chair!, which requires the player to land at least 10 successful strikes with an object in a single match. Although not required in an Extreme Rules match, using an object during any other match type will most likely lead to a disqualification and thus is best suited for Extreme Rules. Unlocking this achievement contributes 20 points for an Xbox 360 user's Gamerscore and a Bronze Trophy for PS3 users.
